Q: How do I sign up?

A: Just click the APPLICATION button on the main CMA EDU page. Fill out the application and submit. A CMA staff person will be in touch with you shortly.

Q: What time commitment will I have to make while I’m in school?

A: You can expect to invest at least 10 – 15 hours per semester on Chapter meetings, projects, research, and communications.

Q: Is there a cost to be a CMA EDU member?

A: Students, chapters, and schools are not charged any dues or fees by CMA for participating in the CMA EDU program. Local chapters may find it necessary to collect funds for operating expenses. This is completely up to the discretion of Chapter leadership.

Q: What will I gain from being a member of CMA EDU?

A: Participating in CMA EDU will give you invaluable music industry knowledge, experiences, and connections. If you are interested in a career in the music business industry, CMA EDU would offer a great opportunity to begin building your resume. Participation may also qualify for our CMA EDU Rewards program in which you can earn points toward concert tickets, CMA Music Fest passes, and other merchandise.

Q: What is the difference between a Chapter and Ambassador program?

A: Schools with high levels of interest in the program can apply to form their own official chapter of CMA EDU which is governed by elected officers and organized under expectations established by CMA.

The Ambassador program offers students without access to a chapter on their campus the opportunity to participate in CMA EDU on a more individualized and independent basis.

Q: How do we start an official CMA EDU chapter on our campus?

A: Complete the application on the CMA EDU website. A CMA staff person will contact you and begin the interview process. Chapter programs require faculty/school staff sponsorship and university approval.

Q: How many members are required to be considered an official CMA EDU chapter?

A: The application process can begin with a minimum of one student and one faculty/school staff sponsor. Your group may stay in application process until a desirable number of members are registered.

Q: I am member of my school’s faculty/staff – how do I receive more information on getting CMA EDU on my campus?

A: Just go to the application and, when prompted, identify yourself as a COLLEGE FACULTY/STAFF MEMBER.
