Individual Membership Categories

Please select the category below which best describes your involvement in Country Music. Each applicant must fall within one of these 17 categories of membership.

Advertising Agency/Public Relations/Marketing

Anyone actively engaged in the advertising, public relations, marketing, publicity or radio representation fields.

Affiliated

Anyone actively engaged in the music industry whose activities are unspecified in one of the other sixteen categories. 

Artist

Anyone who performs before the public and/or through recordings, radio, TV or motion pictures.

Broadcast Air Talent

Any broadcast air talent or personality, including both radio and television. 

Composer

A songwriter or composer that is affiliated with a performance rights licensing organization.

Entertainment Services

Anyone actively engaged in managing the business, financial or legal aspects of a career that falls within one of the other sixteen categories of membership in CMA.

International

Anyone residing outside the United States and actively engaged in the music business in any of the sixteen other categories.

Musician

Anyone who performs with an artist or a group before the public and/or through recordings, radio, TV or motion pictures.

Personal Manager

Anyone engaged in the business of managing talent.

Producer/Engineer/Studio

Any person engaged in the business of producing and/or engineering, including any employees of a studio.

Publisher/Performing Rights Organization

Any music publisher (or employee thereof) who is a member of any performing rights organization, or any person who is employed by a Performing Rights Organization.

Radio

Any employee working in any aspect of terrestrial or satellite radio station, network or syndicator of Country Music that is not a broadcast personality.

Record Company

Any record company employee

Record/Video/Online Merchandiser

Anyone actively engaged in distributing, retailing or merchandising physical or online recordings, including jukebox operators.

Talent Agent/Promoter

Anyone engaged in the buying of talent and/or promoting live shows.

Talent Buyer/Venue

Anyone engaged in the buying of talent, including all fairs, festivals and casinos, as well as venues.

TV/Video/Media

Any person actively engaged in the television, video or motion picture industries, or anyone working on a commercial publication, either consumer or trade.
