Each year, the award-winning CMA Awards Program Book is a treasured keepsake of “Country Music’s Biggest Night™,” a glossy, page-turner featuring all of the nominees. Compelling cover art has become a standard feature of the collectable and this year, an original piece of art was created by Nashville artist/designer Eva Oglander.
This is the first time that an original work of art was created specifically for the cover of the CMA Awards Program Book. “The 45th Annual CMA Awards” will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and broadcast live on the ABC Television Network (8:00-11:00 PM/ET).
Oglander of Oglander Fine Art & Design, began the artistic process with some of her husband Gary’s unstretched paintings on canvas, cut and glued them to three large pieces of masonite, painted over and attached to a wooden frame. The centerpiece of the work, the Awards trophy icon, was cut from a piece of ductwork pipe, hammered out, sanded, and nailed to the piece. Then the finishing touches of wood, rusted metal pieces and paint were added to achieve a rustic, organic feel.
Oglander, who has designed the CMA Awards Program Book since 1986, is an accomplished painter, clay pottery artist, and graphic designer. She is the center of a family of artists – husband Gary, and sons Eric and Daniel – who have shown their works together in galleries and were invited to display some of their pieces at the Nashville International Airport. Currently, selections of their art are on display at Surroundings Gallery in Nashville and have an upcoming show at Ensworth Gallery through Nov. 11.
CMA has enhanced the CMA Awards Program Book for advertisers, too, creating an online catalogue feature that will allow visitors to scroll through the pages of the Program Book long after the Red Carpet has been rolled away. The Program Book will be archived online at CMAawards.com, benefiting from robust visitor traffic, with easy to flip pages.
The award-winning publication is distributed to 20,000 industry tastemakers, media, and consumers. The Program Book is available to CMA Awards ticket holders and available for sale onsite and online.
