Longtime Country radio presenter Ken Macleod of Radio Tay in Scotland is CMA's latest recipient of the CMA International Broadcaster Award.
Macleod, presenter of “It's Country” since 1980, is host of the longest-running program on Radio Tay; it airs Wednesdays and Sundays.
Guests over the years have ranged from Boxcar Willie and Johnny Cash to Tammy Wynette and Reba, and has included many British and Irish Country artists.
The Award recognizes outstanding achievement by international radio broadcasters who have made important contributions toward the development of Country Music in their country.
His support of the format extends beyond the studio. He has organized bus trips to theaters in Scotland to attend various Country Music concerts including The Highwaymen, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers and supports local Country Music clubs both on air and with personal appearances.
"This award from CMA is truly special," Macleod said. "It's recognition from my peers in the Country Music world that I have contributed something to preserving and promoting this wonderful music. ... As we say here in Scotland, I'm well chuffed!"
