A Look Ahead: CMA Member Programming 2021
As a trade organization, CMA is committed to providing its members with carefully curated and well-rounded programming that fosters growth, inclusion and equity, and enhances CMA members’ professional and personal development. To this end, CMA has strategically analyzed its existing programming model and worked to implement new sets of resources, voices, and trainings to accomplish these goals. With an emphasis on seven key categories — leadership; the live music industry; financial health; diversity, equity and inclusion; interviewing and hiring; mental health and wellness; and current research and trends in Country Music — CMA is dedicated to facilitating timely, practical and relevant conversations that serve each of CMA’s membership verticals.
Over the past several months, CMA has hosted webinars and discussions covering a variety of topics. They’ve ranged from non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and diversity in touring to rebuilding personal finances and creating open and affirming spaces, among many other concerns.
“Coming out of a time marked by isolation, the CMA sponsored webinars have not only been informative on the subjects of leadership and hybrid models for engaging each other in the workplace, but also a welcomed feeling of camaraderie with other members of the music industry,” said Adam Smith (CMA Member, C3 Management). “Many of the thing I learned I have since implemented into our daily work flow.”
This type of programming will continue throughout the remainder of 2021. Below is a glimpse at what to expect in the coming months. Space is limited in a few webinars, so if you are interested, be sure to register as soon as possible. If you are unable to attend, check CMAworld.com/programming as select programming will be recorded and posted.
WHAT’S AHEAD FOR CMA MEMBERS:
Multicultural Lens for Cultural Agility Training [Leadership] [Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion]
Tuesday, Nov. 2 from 1 – 2 PM/CT
- Enhancing cultural agility enables individuals, teams and organizations to adapt approaches to work effectively, to serve customers and solve problems. Based on leading data-driven cultural models, the Multicultural Lens (MCL) Cultural Agility Training offers a simplified framework for navigating the hidden rules of culture. These rules dictate how we define respect, how we view leadership, how we represent ourselves, how we approach conflict and how we effectively communicate with one another. Participants learn to identify meaningful differences and potential gaps in cultural expectations that have the potential to create tension or erode trust.
- One key module of the MCL training includes four global organizational typologies to promote understanding of organizational cultures. These typologies have default characteristics, from leadership style to employee motivation and team building. This module helps teams and key stakeholders proactively navigate how culture may impact professional behaviors and cultural expectations across teams, departments and the organization as a whole. Participants will understand their own comfort zones in relation to the organizational culture and be able to identify opportunities to bridge gaps that may exist between the two.
Touring + Balance [The Live Music Industry] [Mental Health and Wellness]
Thursday, Nov. 4 from 1 – 2 PM/CT
- Our counselors will discuss the importance of mental health balance while facing the physical, emotional, and mental challenges of being on the road.
